Good news for librarians who may have dealt with remote patrons having difficulty reaching the HeritageQuestOnline database -- or who may themselves be having connection problems reaching this service from their libraries. Beginning today, users accessing HeritageQuestOnline from either the "generic" public library menu page at www.tsl.state.tx.us/texshare/pl/ OR through any of the more than 200 Custom Gateways will be authenticated by the vendor in a completely new way. Personal firewalls should no longer be a problem. This new method of authentication was made possible through cooperation with ProQuest, the vendor of the HeritageQuestOnline database. With the exception of providing a higher "success rate" for access into HeritageQuest, this new method of authentication should be completely invisible to the user. Please let me know if you experience any difficulties or have any questions. ------------- Jay Velgos Technical Operations Specialist, TexShare Texas State Library and Archives ph: 512-475-2254 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
