The kids will really be going wild this summer, so you may want to show high quality movies. The Coalition for Quality Children's Media is offering a special package for Texas public libraries. Visit http://www.kidsfirst.org/kidsfirst/fgowildread.htm for details but basically you receive DVDs and videos WITH PUBLIC PERFORMANCE RIGHTS to use for the summer. The programming fee is $100 for the duration of the Go Wild Read program for up to 10 titles, so that's $10 or less per program. Some of the titles include 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Mango and Papaya's Animal Adventures, and Gulliver's Travels. Sign up by April 29 and you'll receive 50 free copies of a Discovery Kids DVD that includes several sample episodes. These are great prizes for families. In addition, many of the film producers will be donating the DVDs and videos you receive as part of the Kids First! package so that after the summer you will be able to add them to your library collection. If you have questions about how we've used the films, please let me know. Otherwise Ann Church with CQCM/Kids First can help you. Jeanette Larson Youth Services Manager Austin Public Library P.O.
