For those libraries interested in E-rate discounts for phone service, long distance and Internet access. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Marilyn Johnson Sent: Friday, May 13, 2005 3:00 PM To: 'Syscon-Tx (E-mail); Autocon (E-mail); [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [syscon-tx] E-Rate workshop Please forward the following email announcement to reach Texas public libraries. Please forgive any cross postings. Does the thought of filing for the E-Rate discount frighten you? Or conjure unpleasant thoughts similar to filing your taxes? Perhaps 'E-Rate: The Basics, Part II' is for you. On June 14th, the Texas State Library will present a workshop designed to help the public library file for the E-Rate discount. For those who have filed before, this workshop may provide useful information to streamline your efforts. For those who might not be familiar with the E-Rate filing process, you may want to check out the video "E-Rate: The Basics, Pt. I". To obtain a copy of this video, contact Anne Ramos, Library Science Collection librarian at 512 463-5494 or via email at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Although an overview of the E-Rate program and filing process will be provided, the primary focus of this workshop will be on the Form 486 and Form 472 (a.k.a. the BEAR). For those of you that have not filed before, these are the last two forms in the filing process. You may be interested to note that this particular workshop will be offered via videoconference. The presenter, Marilyn Johnson, will be in Austin at the Texas State Library, while you may be able to attend at a library closer to you. The videoconference environment allows two-way communication - in other words, you will be able to speak with the presenter. Details on participating locations and registration are available on the TSLAC CE page. The direct link is http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/workshops/er82/index.html As seating is limited, pre-registration is preferred.
