From: Amanda Williams [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, July 20, 2005 10:19 AM To: [email protected] Subject: FW: Online Course Licenses Still Available Good morning. I wanted to let you all know that the Texas State Library and Archives has four online classes available for you for free. CTLS has offered the Privacy and Multicutlural classes so you may have taken those. There are two others you might want to take. See the email below for more information and to register for a class. Amanda Texas library staff, volunteers, and affiliates -- FREE seats are available to you through the Texas State Library in four (4) online library-related continuing education courses created by the Library Education at Desktop program at the University of North Texas. Each course is easily accessible from an Internet-capable PC and takes about two (2) hours to complete. Participants completing each course will earn two (2) hours of continuing education credit from the Texas State Library. (School librarians, please note that three of the four courses are eligible for SBEC credit. See our website for more details.) The four courses are as follows: * Library Privacy and Confidentiality (Updated in 2005!) -- gain a better understanding of the USA Patriot Act and other laws as they apply to library user privacy and other issues. (SBEC eligible for school librarians) * Presentation Skills for Librarians -- learn how your organization and presentation of information, as well as presentation of yourself, affects the audience's receptiveness. (SBEC eligible for school librarians) * Managing Difficult Patrons with Confidence -- intended to provide each participant with a basic tool-kit that can be applied to manage a variety of difficult patron situations. (Recommended for public and academic library staff) * Providing Excellent Customer Service in a Multicultural Environment -- This course will introduce you to the basics of how diversity and culture impact your understanding of and response to your multicultural customers. (SBEC eligible for school librarians) * For more information about each course and to register, please visit the Texas State Library's Library Education at Desktop page: http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/workshops/online/lead/index.html .
