opted for carpet tiles at Temple Public, and I'm glad we did. It has enabled us
to replace small stained or worn sections without having to replace the whole
carpet. When I was at Georgetown Public and we had a water pipe break, it made
it easy to dry out. We just pulled up the tiles, leaned them up against the
building in the sun, and let them drain and dry (of course it was a relatively
small section).
Unfortunately I'm not sure how much overage to calculate. We purchased a
lot of extra with the idea of using it when we expanded into another area of the
building. As it turns out, it's been long enough that when we finally do
renovate we'll probably recarpet that floor anyway, so we're using what we were
saving for that to take care of bad spots in the carpet. I would bet that a
carpet vendor could tell you how much you need though.
