ANNOUNCEMENT OF STAFF CHANGES AT CTLS

Two long time CTLS consultants, Amanda Williams and Sharon
Herfurth, have accepted positions with the Austin Public Library
effective this month. Departing CTLS after 9 years of service is
Amanda Williams, the Youth Services Consultant and Continuing
Education Coordinator. Amanda began working with CTLS libraries in
1996 and has amassed an impressive inventory of professional
accomplishments along the way. Besides building a catalog of
continuing education programs that focus on youth services, Amanda
has participated in professional development for librarians on the
national level. Her most recent work includes service on the
prestigious Caldecott Committee.

Sharon Herfurth began as the Media Specialist for the System in
1994. She later transitioned to general consulting where she built a
specialty in electronic data base training. She expanded her
expertise to a very popular area of consulting when she added grants
and grant writing to her skills as a consultant. Many member
librarians have benefited from her good advice and critical eye as the
final proof reader for grant applications.

The skills and talent both these outstanding librarians bring to the
System will be sorely missed. We wish them the best as they set out
on a new phase of their careers with the Austin Public Library.

Joining CTLS this month from the Austin Public Library is Jennifer
Patterson, Branch Manager for the Windsor Village Branch Library.
Jennifer worked at the Texas State Library from 1998 to 1993 as
both a Manager and Trainer for Continuing Education in the Library
Development Division. She later became the Organizational
Development Manager for the Austin Public Library and a Branch
Manager in 1997. She has extensive experience in training public
library staff in a variety of areas including customer service, team
building, managing problem patrons, and use of electronic resources.
We welcome Jennifer to the System and look forward to adding her
specialties to the catalog of skills of the CTLS staff.
