Subject: [syscon-tx] Public Librarians to serve on TexShare Working Groups-- Courier, Card & Education Services

TexShare Working Group Call for Nominations for Public Librarians

TexShare working groups are the heart of TexShare. These groups consist of librarians from around Texas who represent TexShare members and advise the State Library and the TexShare Advisory Board on the operation of TexShare programs.

We are soliciting three public librarian nominations for the TexShare Courier Service (TExpress) Working Groupone public librarian nomination for the TexShare Card Program Working Group, and three public librarian nominations for the TexShare Education Services Working Group.

For more information on the Courier Service go to: http://www.texshare.edu/programs/courier/
For more information on the Card Program go to:   http://www.texshare.edu/programs/card/
For more information on the Education Services Working Group go to:  http://www.texshare.edu/programs/education/

Only individuals from TexShare member libraries are eligible to serve on TexShare Working Groups, and in the first two cases, the library must be a TExpress courier service participant or participate in the TexShare card program. To check on the TexShare libraries that participate in the TExpress service please go to: http://www.texshare.edu/programs/courier/librariesname.htm and to check on the libraries that participate in the card program go to:   http://www.texshare.edu/generalinfo/about/programs.html

These working group appointments are for three years, beginning September 1, 2005 and ending August 31, 2008.

Librarians from TexShare member institutions may nominate themselves or others.  Library directors may nominate staff.  All nominations must have the support of the nominee's library director.  The State Library makes the appointments in consultation with the Advisory Board and working groups.

Please send your public librarian nominations to the TexShare Coordinator by September 23, 2005 (contact information below).

Please include:

  • Nominee's name, library, position, and full contact information
  • A brief statement of the nominee's qualifications
  • Also include written assurance that the nomination has the support of the nominee's library director

Working group members should participate in the group's meetings, generally held two-four times annually (with one of the meetings in-person and the others by conference call), and follow through with assignments.  Potential members must have the support of their institution for travel to at least one in-person meeting each year.  Travel costs are not compensated.  Potential members should have experience or an interest in the program area, a desire to enhance multi-type library resource sharing in Texas, and an interest in designing innovative programs to enhance library services to Texans.

Thank you,

Ann Mason
