Katrina Response website
Our thoughts are with those struggling with the loss and devastation from
Hurricane Katrina. To assist libraries and cultural institutions that were
affected as well as to help coordinate the offers of assistance, SOLINET's
Katrina Response site (http://www.solinet.net/KatrinaResponse) is serving as
a clearinghouse of information.
The site offers information on collection salvage and recovery, emergency
grants, and grant extensions. There are links for those needing temporary
housing, financial assistance, non-monetary assistance, employment, and
more.
You can access this site to see what non-monetary items and services have
been contributed for Katrina survivors. You can see what goods and services
have been requested and what has already been offered. If you see a need
that you can fill, click on the appropriate category and submit the
information.
This site is not just for SOLINET members or even just for libraries in the
Southeast. Thanks to partial funding from the National Endowment for the
Humanities, the resources on the Katrina Response site are available to all
libraries and library staff affected by Katrina. Please feel free to forward
this email to anyone you think may be interested.
On behalf of affected libraries, we thank you for your participation and
contribution to the rebuilding effort.
