Jeanette Larson, Youth Services Manager for Austin Public Library, will speak on "Bringing Mysteries Alive for Children and Young Adults" at the Sisters in Crime meeting on October 9, 2005.
Ms. Larson is the author of "Bringing Mysteries Alive for Children and Young Adults," published by Linworth Publishing in 2004. She will discuss the history of children's mystery books and explore popular titles in the genre. Handouts will be provided, along with recommendations for good titles to give as gifts to young readers. Ms. Larson has served twice on the Newbery Award committee.
Sisters in Crime Heart of Texas Chapter, meets monthly on the second Sunday of the month at 2:00 PM. at the Westlake Barnes & Noble bookstore, located at the southeast corner of Loop 360 and Bee Cave Road, in The Village at Westlake shopping center.
Sisters in Crime is an international organization of women and men whose purpose is to promote mysteries written by women, and combat discrimination against women mystery authors. Speakers include published mystery authors and technical experts who help writers craft better mysteries and readers enjoy what they read. Meetings are free and open to all.
