Texas library staff, volunteers, and affiliates -- 

Reminder: 

FREE seats are available through the Texas State Library in four (4) online
library-related continuing education courses created by the Library
Education at Desktop program at the University of North Texas. **These
course licenses will expire on December 31st, 2005.** License numbers are
beginning to dwindle -- act now if you are interested. 

Each course is easily accessible from an Internet-capable PC and takes about
two (2) hours to complete. Participants completing each course will earn two
(2) hours of continuing education credit from the Texas State Library.
(School librarians, please note that three of the four courses are eligible
for SBEC credit. See our website for more details.)

The four courses are as follows: 

*       Library Privacy and Confidentiality (Updated in 2005!) -- gain a
better understanding of the USA Patriot Act and other laws as they apply to
library user privacy and other issues. (SBEC eligible for school
librarians.) **ONLY 12 LICENSES REMAINING**

*       Presentation Skills for Librarians -- learn how your organization
and presentation of information, as well as presentation of yourself,
affects the audience's receptiveness. (SBEC eligible for school librarians.)
** 38 LICENSES REMAINING **

*       Managing Difficult Patrons with Confidence -- intended to provide
each participant with a basic tool-kit that can be applied to manage a
variety of difficult patron situations. (Recommended for public and academic
library staff.) 

*       Providing Excellent Customer Service in a Multicultural Environment
-- This course will introduce you to the basics of how diversity and culture
impact your understanding of and response to your multicultural customers.
(SBEC eligible for school librarians)
