AMOUNT: Grants of up to $5,000 are made to update, extend, and diversify the book collections of school libraries. WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Preference is given to elementary, middle, or high schools in which 90% or more of the school population receives free or reduced lunch. All Foundation grants are made to individual schools rather than to school districts, foundations, or other entities. DEADLINE: The application deadline is December 30, 2005. For online application information visit the website listed above. TIDBIT: Part of the grant application asks for how the school collaborates with community groups--like the local public library!
