For those of you who haven't been around that long, Nann Blaine Hilyard was the director of the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library in Brenham a while back. I've submitted something to her before for this column in Public Libraries. It's a chance to see your name in print! Laurie -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Myra Arredondo Subject: [syscon-tx] FW: What's Your Perspective? Public Libraries Column This has been cross-posted for maximum exposure. If you're affiliated with a public library, TIA for your consideration. **************************************************************** Hello! I am editor of the Perspectives feature in Public Libraries, the journal of the Public Library Association. Each issue features 4 to 7 essays on a particular topic. For the Mar/Apr, 2006, issue it's "Award Winners: Why and How." I'd like to hear from award winners. That could be you, a staff member, or your entire library. The award can be from PLA, from ALA, from your state association, or from another entity. The award can be for contribution to librarianship, or for a book, or for a building, or for a program, or for another (interesting) reason. The idea is to hear from a variety of award winners: what was won, when it was won, why it was won, how you decided to enter, and **how the award made a difference**. How did you tell your patrons / local government about the award? What was their reaction? Did good stuff happen because you got the award? (And if there was a dark side, what was it?) Essays should be 750-1000 words, +/-. Photos are welcome. The essay-writer does not need to be a member of PLA. Submit as a Word document attached to e-mail. You will receive two complimentary copies of the Mar/Apr issue. Due date: January 2, 2006. If you have any questions, let me know!
