Wimberley Village Library invites CTLS members to:

We have met the Aging and they are us!

(a workshop inspired by Alan Kleiman)

January 19, 2006

AGENDA

·       Objectives of the workshop

·       Census 2000: What are the demographics of Texas?

·       How are seniors unique & how like other patrons?

·       Are there different categories of “elderly”?

·       How do we develop a service plan for seniors?

·       Marketing to seniors – how do we get them to come?

·       Why do programming & what’s interesting to seniors?

·       Should some aspects of the collection be tailored to seniors?

·       Technology training for seniors – who’s gonna do it?

·       CTLS Interest Group - action planning

All CTLS members are invited to attend. Space is limited, however, so please call SuzAnne if you’re interested. This will serve as the kickoff for a CTLS Interest Group on Library Services for Seniors, so even if you did attend Allan Kleiman’s “Texas is Aging” workshop, you may want to come help form this interest group. At the end of the workshop we’ll make a list of related training we need and decide what grants or special projects the Interest Group might like to pursue. Wimberley Village Library will be closed to the public that morning, but we’ll sneak you in between 8:30 and 9:00 for registration & coffee. The workshop is from 9:00 to 12:00. We’ll have lunch together afterwards, so bring a dish (or soda or plates or forks – you know the potluck routine). Call SuzAnne Beard, Wimberley Library Director, to tell her what you’re bringing for lunch and to get directions: (512) 847-2188.

See you there!

Jennifer
