The Texas State Library invites Texas library staff to the following
continuing education event --

GOOGLE BOOK SEARCH: ITS IMPACT ON SCHOLARSHIP AND LIBRARIES College of
DuPage "Library Challenges & Opportunities" Series Satellite Teleconference
and Webcast

SPEAKERS:
Paul Courant
Michael Jensen
Jonathan Band
Suzanne Thorin
And Google representative Jennifer Grant

BROADCAST DATE AND TIME: Friday, April 28, 2006, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Central Time

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This program will explicate Google's vision of the future. We will discuss
how a successful project will impact the world of information from the
perspectives of librarians, academic administrators, scholars and
publishers. This project has stirred up a bundle of issues, some of them
contentious, but our goal is to highlight the key issues in a constructive
manner. We plan to produce a program that is consistent with the academic
tradition of a "spirit of inquiry" and not a polemic.
