Friends--
Would you like to show movies in
your library?
I just got
the OK to figure out IF AND HOW we could work with Movie Licensing
USA to buy public performance rights for our
members starting in
August. To do this we need to know
how many active
card holders* you have at your library or branch.
Email this info to me. If you
need details, see below.
I'll be in touch soon.

DETAILS:
1. What would this mean for my
library? Movie Licensing USA,
http://www.movlic.com/, is the licensing agent for most
of the major motion picture studios. They provide licensing to
public libraries so that entertainment movies may be used legally in
library programs.
An annual Public Performance Site License allows
your library to incorporate entertainment movies legally into your programming.
The Public Performance License covers the entire library facility for
showings by the staff and also outside groups choosing to host an event or
meeting at the library. An unlimited number of films can be shown
throughout the year. The license runs for 12 consecutive months from a
start date that you choose. The movies can be obtained from any legal
source. This license does not cover outdoor showings or any showing outside
the physical walls of your specific location.
2. What if my library has
already paid for a year's license? Movie Licensing USA will
refund the unused portion of your license.
* 3. What does active card
holders mean? The cost of the annual license is based on
the number of active cardholders at your library. Active means the use of
the library card within the last year or so. Do your best to provide this
info even if it's an
estimate.
