Hello Central Texas ILLers on the CTLS listserv!

The Austin Public Library ILL office will be closed all day tomorrow, 5/12/2006, for Staff Development Day. You may call and leave messages at our Toll Free number 1-800-242-1880, or 512-974-7381 and we will get back with you on Monday morning.

For serious emergencies regarding accessing the ILLIad system, you may contact Sue Bennett at the Texas State Library at 512-463-5406.

Do not call Sue unless you have had no success accessing the ILLiad system for over 30 minutes and you continue getting the following message when you try to submit a request from WorldCat, “this page can not be displayed . Generally all problems with the ILLiad system reside at the server which is located at the State Library. A phone call to them will allow them to reboot the system and unlock the program for access. Any other strange problems with ILLiad that are not resolved by getting out and going back in and do not last for over 30 minutes can be considered serious. In some cases waiting it out until the next day may be the best plan. However, I would recommend reporting any strange error messages that continue over 30 minutes to Sue. You can get out and wait until it is resolved or until the next day but it is best to report the problem so that they can look into it.

Problems with WorldCat are at the nationally level. We have had problems this week and last week accessing and maintaining access to OCLC. If you have problems with WorldCat you can only monitor the problem until it is resolved from this website, http://www.oclc.org/support/systemalerts/default.asp.

Monitoring the problem helps but you will have to wait it out. Currently there is an alert posted on the website. I think it is great that we are now part of a national online interlibrary loan system . Not only do we have the ability to access such a great resource, but we can suffer nationally with everyone else when it goes down. Such is progress.

OK all, take care, any business that you need to communicate please leave a message on our voice mail and we will get back with you on Monday.

Have a great week-end!
