The Texas Book Festival gives grants to public libraries. Many of our member libraries have received these $2,500 grants.

Volunteering is a lot of fun! Celebrity authors are everywhere, and the capitol building is a great place to hold this event.

Subject: [slm] Volunteer at the Texas Book Festival!

The Texas Book Festival would like you to volunteer!  Please forward this to your friends asking them to volunteer and, if you can, forward this at your place of work as well.

Last year over 900 people volunteered to make the Book Festival a great success. This year the Texas Book Festival will be held Oct. 27 through 29, 2006 in Austin, Texas on the grounds of the Texas State Capital. Volunteers (need to be 16 or over) are given a variety of options to choose from including when they wish to work - date and time of day - and the event or activity. An easy online application allows volunteers to indicate a range of choices and the volunteer coordinators are gathering information and making assignments in September and early October.

Come join us! Please visit these websites for more information about the festival and volunteering.  We are looking for children's tent/activities volunteers!
