Hi Everyone: The staff of the Bastrop Public Library, Library Board and Friends of the Bastrop Public Library invite one and all to the library's Dedication Ceremony and Grand Opening on Saturday, December 16. The library expansion Dedication Ceremony is from 9 AM until 10 AM. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10 AM. The Library Board's Annual Open House starts when the library doors open at 10 AM and continues throughout the day until 4 PM. The library is providing entertainment and refreshments throughout the day. The Friends of the Bastrop Public Library are going to assist the Library Board by keeping the cookie trays full and the punch stirred. The entertainment begins with storyteller, Bernadette Nason, an accomplished storyteller and actress with hundreds of captivating performances to her credit. Her performance is scheduled for 11 AM. Bernadette has a highly energetic style that draws the listener into the story and holds them until the final word. Children of all ages will be mesmerized by Ms. Nason's festive collection of Seasonal Stories. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy this free program that will put a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eye. Jingles the Elf is scheduled to arrive at 1 PM. She will create balloon animals, perform magic tricks and entertain everyone with her antics. Monica Miller, Harpist extraordinaire, is scheduled to perform from 1:30 PM until 3:30 PM. Ms. Miller is becoming a holiday tradition at the library, because her harp music is so beautiful and inspiring. If you see a group of young children milling about, not to worry, Sam the Story Lady is probably entertaining the children with her stories, puppets and crazy hats. Sam said she is going to tell stories in the new Children's Area throughout day. We hope you can join us on Saturday, December 16.
