I have received more information about the courier service from Texas State
Library. TSL DOES NOT plan to reduce its ILL courier subsidy - will remain
at $900 for Amigos TExpress program. Also, TSL stated that Amigos DOES NOT
plan to raise its rates for next year.

So the cost difference would be $2450 for service 5 times a week (Amigos)
versus $1424.28 for service 2 times a week (Edge Logistics).

The Edge Logistics might be a good option for libraries that don't need ILL
courier services as frequently as 5 times a week, and both services might
not be cost effective for libraries that don't handle many ILL requests.

I apologize for the confusion!

Thanks,

Kam

Subject: Gauging interest in an ILL courier consortium which provides deeper
discounts than Amigos TExpress for twice weekly pickups

Good afternoon --

Currently, TexShare provides the TExpress program through Amigos, which
picks up/drops off interlibrary loan materials 5 times a week, at a
subsidized cost of $2450.00 (the price is $3350, and TSL picks up $900 of
the cost). Next year, the unsubsidized price will be $100 more, and the TSL
subsidy might be less.

NETLS (Northeast Texas Library System) has already created a consortium for
a cheaper courier service that picks up/drops off twice a week. CTLS members
would be piggybacking on their agreement with a courier service called Edge
Logistics, soon to change their name to TExpress Packages. They charge
$1424.28 per library per year (no TSL subsidies for this service). This
courier service works seamlessly with the existing Amigos TExpress program
so that you would be able to pick up/drop off materials to libraries using
the Amigos courier service as well as the Edge Logistics courier service.

Please let me know if you are interested in joining this consortium or would
like more information.

Thanks!
