Subject: Relevance of Libraries in a Digital Age free teleconference &
webcast May 11

The Texas State Library invites ALL Texas library
staff/volunteers/affiliates to the following free continuing education event
-- THE RELEVANCE OF LIBRARIES IN A DIGITAL AGE

BROADCAST DATE AND TIME: Friday, May 11, 2007, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Central Time

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
James G. Neal, the Vice President for Information Services and University
Librarian will assemble a panel to discuss the future relevance of libraries
as we know them. The digital age has been with us long enough to make some
practical predictions of how traditional roles of libraries will change in
information selection, acquisition, synthesis, navigation, dissemination,
interpretation and archiving. New responsibilities in information
aggregation, publishing education, research and development and policy
advocacy will be explored. It promises to be a lively and provocative
session.
