Dear Librarians: Christine McNew from the Texas State Library has created an online course for youth librarians entitled, Lapsit Programs for Infants and Caregivers. It covers how to plan and present library programs for infants from birth through twelve months. You will learn about child development, early literacy skills, organizations and activities, program development and professional resources. This is an online, self-paced course. Participants may complete the course at their own pace but all coursework *must* be completed within 30 days of enrollment. It is available from now until July 27, 2007 and then again in September. (This allows Christine to go on vacation and then make any changes from the ideas brought forth from participants). Participants who make a grade of 70% or higher in this course are eligible to receive six hours of TSLAC continuing education credit or six (6) hours of SBEC Continuing Education credit for school librarians (SBEC provider identification #500799).
