Subject: [syscon-tx] Library Technology Planning Videoconference August 14

The Texas State Library would like to remind Austin and Houston area library
staff of the following continuing education event --

Library Technology Planning Videoconference

Technology plans are now being required (or strongly suggested) by many
organizations -- many of which tie these plans to funding. If you haven't
written one yet or aren't sure about the one you have, spend a few hours
with us. We will discuss the process of creating policies, the specific
pieces of a library's technology plan, and spend time working with the major
sections -- needs assessment, vision and mission statements, goals,
objectives, activities, technical inventories, and budget.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?: Although this workshop is open to all Texas library
staff, public library staff who are directly involved with technology
planning, grant writing and applying for the e-rate discount are STRONGLY
encouraged to attend.

NOTE: This is the same workshop that was offered in various locations around
the state in April and August of 2006. It is being offered now for those in
the Austin and Houston areas who would like to attend the live
videoconference event. For those who cannot attend, a DVD recording of this
workshop can be borrowed through the Texas State Library's Library Science
Collection:
