CHANGE IN POLICY AFFECTING TEXSHARE CARD PROGRAM REIMBURSEMENT September 1, 2007 Since the beginning of the TexShare Card Program in 1999, the Central Texas Library System has reimbursed individual participating TexShare Card program libraries if a patron from a CTLS member library failed to return materials borrowed from the participating library. At its January 23rd meeting, the CTLS Board of Directors voted to rescind this policy. As of September 1, 2007 CTLS will no longer reimburse TexShare Card program libraries for losses incurred by patrons of member libraries. A 25% cut in the CTLS FY 2008 operating budget makes the continuation of this policy no longer feasible. We regret any hardship this change in policy may cause participating libraries and hope that it will not deter libraries from continuing to offer TexShare cards to their patrons.
