Taylor has annual renewals based on registration date. There is no set date for everyone. If the renewing patron tells us nothing has changed on their account and there have been no returned notices or other evidence of a change in their information, we do not require proof. However, if something has changed, we require the same sort of proof (verification of address & photo ID) as required at first registration. Also, at renewal, all fines & fees must be paid up. A Taylor patron can keep a running total of fines under $5.00, but per policy, you have to completely reconcile your account at renewal. For our out-of-town patrons, this is the time they must paid for their non-resident card for the next year ($10 per individual or $25 for families). One exception to the annual renewal is our Temple College students that do not live in Taylor. Our policy is that all students who live outside of the city but go to school inside city limits may have a free library card. Temple College at Taylor (TCAT) student cards are only good for the semester enrolled, which we verbally verify with the college. Temple College has more power to make the students pay for lost bks, fines, etc., by withholding grades and transcripts, but only while they are a student at the college. --Karen Ellis, Taylor Public Library ________________________________ From: Peg Fleet - Library Director [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, August 22, 2007 10:33 AM To: ctls-l Subject: [ctls-l] Library card renewal policies This is a message from CTLS-L. Do you require borrowers to renew annually or on some other fixed schedule? Do you have different categories of accounts that renew at different times (For example: new accounts, nonresidents, long-term residents, or some other category)? Do you require borrowers to provide documents to verify information when they renew? Thank you for your time. Peg Fleet
