Subject: Announcing New Wiki Workshop on August 29 & 30, 2007

Web-based services are impacting the way we create, share, and use
information, or put another way, are impacting ways we interact with and
serve our patrons. If you want to extend your services and meet your
patrons online, wikis might just be one way to accomplish this.

In late August, CTLS is presenting a new TANG workshop entitled "Working
with Wikis."

In this beginning, hands-on workshop, we'll explore what a wiki is, how
wikis work, and share examples of uses to support and promote library
programs and services. Suggested guidelines for implementation of wikis
will be presented as well as ways to discover the best wiki tools for your
needs.

Presenter Martha (Marty) Rossi is the Educational Specialist for Library
Services & Media at Education Service Center, Region 20, in San Antonio. In
this position, she is charged with supporting and promoting librarians and
library services throughout the 15 counties served by Region 20 as well as
helping to manage the integration and administration of statewide database
programs for K-12 schools. She started her career as a database
administrator and has worked in various arenas such as hospitality,
education, and health care. Marty has served in school libraries at the
secondary level and was the director of the medical library at the Baptist
Health System. She holds a Master's degree in Information Science and her
professional interests include information seeking behavior and the
evolution and use of diverse technology applications in libraries; in other
words, she's a self-proclaimed library geek.

The workshop will be presented at these two locations:

*

        Wednesday, August 29, 2007 - Learning Technology Center/Library,
McLennan Community College Library, 1400 College Drive, Waco, TX 76708 (see
attached map)
*

        Thursday, August 30, 2007 - San Marcos Public Library, 625 E.
Hopkins St., San Marcos, TX 78666

Registration is from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m., and the workshop is 9:00 a.m. to
12:00 p.m., with refreshments served all morning. Attendees will receive
3.0 hours of CE Credit.

Attendance is limited to 20 people per class, so be sure to register soon.

You can register for this workshop online at http://www.ctls.net.
