An interesting request from the Southern Food and beverage Museum to help
replenish their collection of cookbooks after Katrina. They have an
interesting web site and a current blog also - http://sofood.blogspot.com/ -

Subject: RE: question about cookbooks and collecting

The Southern Food and Beverage Museum, located in New Orleans lost roughly
900 cookbooks as a result of Hurricane Katrina. They were stored at the
Southern University of New Orleans. If any Texas libraries are overstocked
with cookbooks, we would be grateful to accept those that are no longer
needed. Hefty hardbound books or small spiral-bound versions to benefit
churches or schools. Filled with recipes from famous chefs or the ladies
from around the corner. Seafood, fried food, casseroles, appetizers to
desserts. They are all of value to us. Duplicate are accepted. We will take
what comes.

The Southern Food and Beverage Museum
<https://mail8.uno.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.southernfood.org
/> http://www.southernfood.org/ is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to the
discovery, understanding and celebration of the culture of food and drink in
the South. Its goal is to preserve the culinary heritage of the American
South. We are trying to replenish what we lost and continue to improve our
collection. The cookbooks will become part of the museum's library and will
be available to historians, scholars, researchers and "foodies."
