This is a very interesting part of Texas history, which has long been
ignored.

HIDDEN HISTORY

Austin: The Mexican American Cultural Center, 600 River Street presents
Author and Historian Dan Arellano, Sunday Oct 28, 2007 at 1P.M.in the Raul
Salinas Literary Media Lab.

With the exclusion of Hispanics from Ken Burns WWII Documentary and the
struggle to ensure fair and equitable historical representation, Dan
Arellano will speak of how our history continues to be concealed and
excluded from the annals of American History.

Hidden History will be about the First Texas Republic and the "Battle of
Medina," with a book signing afterwards.

Over a thousand Tejanos sacrificed their lives in this biggest battle for
freedom ever fought on Texas soil. More lives were lost in this epic event
and its aftermath, than in all of the other battles in the second Texas
Revolution on both sides combined. The "Battle of Medina"Šthe forgotten
history of the Tejanos, these first sons and daughters of the State of Texas
that to this day remain unknown and unrecognized for their ultimate
sacrifice.

The event starts at 11A.M. and is free and open to the public.
