This is the same workshop CTLS is calling "Library Services to the Spanish
Speaking". The first one will be held in Bandera, put on by a different
trainer, but for those of you who live on the west side of the hill country
it might be convenient!

Subject: TSLAC New Workshop Series: ROSA (Reaching Our Spanish-speaking
Audience)
Importance: High

Dear Librarians,

The Texas State Library & Archives Commission, in collaboration with
WebJunction.org, is pleased to invite Texas library staff to an exciting new
training series entitled ROSA - Reaching Our Spanish-speaking Audience.
ROSA is part of the Spanish Language Outreach Program and is funded by The
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. A series of workshops will be held in 27
locations throughout the state, beginning this December and concluding May
2008. For a list of dates and locations, please visit the ROSA web site at
http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/workshops/rosa/.

These full-day workshops will offer information and training about proven
marketing techniques, understanding cultural differences, providing
technology training, and partnering with local community organizations that
serve Spanish-speaking communities. All public, school, academic and
special library staff and administrators interested in reaching out to
Spanish speakers are encouraged to attend. Participants will learn to
prepare -- and begin developing -- a ROSA action plan of outreach activities
to implement in their local libraries. Additionally, participants will have
access to content and resources posted on WebJunction to aid with ongoing
outreach efforts.

Six hours of continuing education credit will be awarded for attending this
workshop. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up early! If you need
additional information about the workshops, please contact me.

To register for this workshop visit the online registration form at
http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/workshops/rosa/regrosa.html

We're looking forward to a successful and beneficial ROSA for Texas!
