Subject: Clifton Library Hosts Book Signing

This has been a banner month for us in Clifton. In addition to receiving
two grants, we held our first book signing and had a tremendous response.
We promoted this event heavily with articles in three newspapers in
surrounding towns, had announcements made at community organizations, and
created posters for display in local businesses, veterans organizations,
etc.

The author, Fred Harvey, lives in Kerrville and is a true raconteur. He
captivated our patrons, who had a wonderful time and purchased several
copies of his book. This is one that other libraries in Central Texas might
consider for a similar event. It was really exciting to sponsor an event
with appeal to adults!

The following article was printed the Clifton Record, our local paper.

HERE COMES THE SHERIFF, said Don Stacy, inciting T. Fred Harvey to quickly
raised his hands before being introduced to Jim Babb (right). Shown with
them are Owen Ringness (right, a classmate of Harvey's at Clifton College)
and Stacy.

CLIFTON - T. Fred Harvey brought his newly published book, "Hell Yes, I'd Do
It All Again," to the Nellie Pederson Civic Library in Clifton for a
book-signing last week and, with it, he brought lots of memories to many of
those who still reside in Clifton.

Harvey attended Clifton College in the 40s and many of those who visited
with him at the library were old friends who had played football with him,
served him meals that their mother had made him, and those who were simply
classmates of his.

His book takes readers on a travelogue of his life, from childhood, to the
war, to travels, marriages, and a multitude of ups and downs.

Readers get the sense that they are sitting in a living room, listening to a
multitude of tales about life during the depression in West Texas, hearing
war stories and travel stories from around the world.

Not only did he once live in an oil field house with no running water, but
he spent time tenting all over Europe and the Middle East, and visited
mansions on the way. As a coach in Korea, he flearned all about different
lifestyles, and as a world traveler found that home is where the heart is.

The tales are not necessarily written in chronological order but are the
memories of one man - woven into a tapestry of life.
