Our city provides a flat amount up to $2000 a year for ALL employees for ANY
college course whether or not it is in one's discipline. This is a matter of
institutional choice and budget. The reimbursement is set at the Texas State
University rate of tuition per course, to encourage people to use TSU since
they are in Round Rock. The campus can be brick and mortar or virtual. The rate
of payment depends on grade received (A/B for master's only, A/B/C for
undergraduate courses).

One employee, who works in the wastewater line area, will complete his BA next
year and has been working on the side as a relief police officer. A full time
officer in RR must now have his BA. So, he'll be able to go full time police if
he wants to.

The City of Austin is probably your best bet for getting some clarity on the
policies for this - you may want to contact COA HRD office to get some
information.

How many of your libraries have tuition reimbursement for all employees? Does
it have to be library related courses or anything they want? What % do you
cover if you have this benefit?
