To Area Libraries ILL Staff

For the past three weeks, all emails sent out from the ILLiad system had
a note regarding new limits for ordering interlibrary loan material for
our Austin Public Library customers.

As the note stated on the email, these limits do not affect the area
libraries. You may order material as needed with no limits. This is the
second time we have gone done on the number of active requests for our
customers. We are a very busy unit, completing FY08 with well over
128,000 requests and only 6 FTEs. Last year we finished at over 115,000
requests. We are very popular, but do not have the staff support to
manage the increasing numbers. We hope this will help, however plans are
to make this temporary. We can not continue to jeopardize our customers
because of lack of personnel or support.

As always we will press onward through the fog. Again this limit does
not affect area libraries.

Also, for technical reasons, the ILLiad system is devolving. We are
slowly going back in time using old methods with a very nice system.
Therefore you will receive in the mail manual turnaround time paperwork.
Please fill in your "received" date and return them to our office. The
sheets are not blue and the green cards are gone but I have managed to
make TAT forms with what we can print off of the ILLiad system.

If you have any questions regarding the ILL process, my homemade
turnaround time forms or problems with your requests I am always
available.

Thank you for all that you do.
