The Texas State Library and Archives Commission is pleased to announce
the release of the Texas Responds Grants:  Emergency Assistance for
Libraries damaged by Hurricane Ike.  The Texas Responds grant program
will assist public, school, and academic libraries that sustained damage
to their libraries during Hurricane Ike, in restoring services and
programs to their patrons.

 

This grant program will fund operating expenditures such as supplies,
library materials, equipment, furniture, and contractual services.
Minor repairs may be allowed; please inquire with specific questions.

 

Applicants must be located in a county declared a disaster area.  These
counties are Anderson, Angelina, Aransas, Archer, Austin, Bell, Bexar,
Bowie, Brazoria, Brazos, Burleson, Calhoun, Cass, Chambers, Cherokee,
Collin, Colorado, Comal, Coryell, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, El Paso, Fort
Bend, Franklin, Freestone, Galveston, Grayson, Gregg, Grimes, Hardin,
Harris, Harrison, Henderson, Hill, Hopkins, Houston, Hunt, Jackson,
Jasper, Jefferson, Johnson, Kaufman, Lamar, Lavaca, Leon, Liberty,
Limestone, Lubbock, Madison, Marion, Matagorda, McLennan, Milam,
Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Navarro, Newton, Nueces, Orange, Panola,
Parker, Polk, Potter, Randall, Robertson, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine,
San Jacinto, San Patricio, Shelby, Smith, Tarrant, Titus, Tom Green,
Travis, Trinity, Tyler, Upshur, Van Zandt, Victoria, Waller, Walker,
Washington, Webb, Wharton, Williamson, Wise and Wood.

 

The deadline for applications is October 31, 2008.  The details, along

Approximately $200,000 is available.  There is not a maximum award for
the program.
