This is the third major system release since we've had computers available to
the public. Of all the changes, this is the most substantial interface change.
People often hate this one, and a few, once they get used to it, like it. If
they use it, like all major MS releases, they have to remember to save
documents in the earlier versions to share with others as not everyone
upgraded. Depending on how many new computers are sold this Christmas, however,
there may be more momentum to learn the 2007 release.

I guess it depends on what the customers are asking for. 2007 has been out for
almost two years now. If Jan is not getting a lot of requests for it, if she
can, she may want to stay with XP, or order a mix as it may be at the "tipping
point" where 2007 may be increasingly in demand. And, don't forget educational
pricing for public libraries for MS software-you can save a bundle.

Subject: Microsoft Office Question

Laurie,

We are upgrading our computers, and I am interested to know how many libraries
are using Microsoft Office 2007 products on their public computers. For those
who are, how do computer users like them? Are there many complaints or
difficulties with them?

Thanks in advance.
