Since we contacted target hosts last fall, a couple developments have
made hosting our Texas/WWII-history exhibit
(http://traces.org/Traveling-Vanished/T-Van.html
<http://traces.org/Traveling-Vanished/T-Van.html> ) easier and much
cheaper.

First, Humanities Texas has reviewed our project proposal and not only
given us a helpful "major grant" but, moreover, promised to review all
"mini-grant" applications from organizations like yours within ten (10)
working days, with checks sent out within five weeks of approval.

Director of Grants and Education Eric Lupfer
([email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> or
512.440.1991 ex. 120) estimates that they currently are funding 92% of
all mini-grant applications, on revolving basis. The 2-page form is low
on that page under grant guidelines/applications at
http://www.humanitiestexas.org/grants/applications/
<http://www.humanitiestexas.org/grants/applications/> and the 1-page
budget form is under model applications and budgets, yet lower on that
same page. Eric and his assistant Brook Davis
([email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> or
extension 128) would be pleased to review any drafts before submission,
as well as answer other questions prospective applicants might have.

Second, given the economic meltdown that has hit the country since we
first proposed this two-year traveling exhibit tour of Texas, we are
adjusting the fee we ask hosts to pay. If you sign up for a showing by
the end of this month (January 30th), depending on the size of your
community and duration of showing, we will take 25-33% off of the
suggested exhibit fee.

Third, we have translated the entire exhibit and guide into Spanish,
facilitating attracting Hispanic patrons to see the exhibit, in addition
to Anglo audiences. We also have a Spanish transcript and summary of the
two films shown in the exhibit.

Fourth, we have confirmed four former internees, one daughter of an
internee, and four academics willing to speak about internment or
related issues, to enhance launching/showing the exhibit. Four of the
speakers have published books about their/families' experiences. Most of
those hosts charge no speaking fees, although they would welcome some
modest contribution towards their travel costs.

Fifth, due to a last-minute cancelation of a January host, we are
willing to take 50% off the current exhibit fee, if some organization
were to step forward to host the exhibit, "last-minute".

Downloadable publicity packets
(http://traces.org/Traveling-Vanished/T-Van-resources-for-hosts/T-Van_to
urpublicitypacket.html
<http://traces.org/Traveling-Vanished/T-Van-resources-for-hosts/T-Van_to
urpublicitypacket.html> ) offer hosts pre-made press releases, posters
and other publicity packets facilitate easy exhibit hosting. A
newly-added "resources for hosts" page
(http://traces.org/Traveling-Vanished/T-Van-resources-for-hosts.html
<http://traces.org/Traveling-Vanished/T-Van-resources-for-hosts.html> )
on our website (www.TRACES.org <http://www.traces.org/> ) also
facilitates hosting.
