Dear Community Partners throughout Texas, Texas Legal Services Center is pleased to announce that we are again actively promoting I-Can! E-File for taxpayers to file their returns. I-Can! E-File is a free, Internet-based program that enables taxpyers to prepare their income tax returns free of charge. Please join this webinar on Friday, January 16, 2009 at 1 PM CST. The host for the meeting is Jeanette Valencia of the Legal Aid Society of Orange County. Texas Legal Services Center has partnered with Legal Aid Society of Orange County to encourage use of www.icanefile.org <http://www.icanefile.org/> . A website co-sponsored by the Texas Legal Services Center, www.icanefile.org <http://www.icanefile.org/> , will automatically calculate and file for all potential tax credits, including the EITC, child tax credit, and others. There is no charge to use the website, and the site has been authorized by the IRS for safe and effective self-help tax preparation. The training will take us through a demo of the I-Can! E-File and go over the basics of helping a taxpayer use the program. Taxpayers who want a refund anticipation loan (RAL) can hold on to 10% of their own money if they just wait a bit longer. These RAL's often have an annual percentage rate of 142% and only beat the IRS payment by 10 days. To sign up for this online "train-the trainer" session, follow the links below.
