At the Library Districts meeting yesterday, Wells Branch Library's
founding Board Chair Dianne Koehler shared some helpful information
about tracking legislation during the current session of the Texas
Legislature. See below.

Thanks, Dianne!

Subject: [Txlibdistricts] Legislative bill tracking

Here is how to sign up for an account and track the bills that affect
libraries in general or library districts

1. go to http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/Home.aspx

2. in the middle toward the bottom find My TLO and select Track
Legislation with Bill Lists

3. use the new account button if you haven't been to the site
before or sign in

4. set up your legislation tracking page

        1. set up one or more bill lists and save

        2. on the second page enter in the number of the bill and
info and save

5. search for possbile legislation

        1. use search button along top row

        2. select text search and use "all of the words" "library
district"

        3. as the session goes on you may want to check/uncheck
options to the right side

        4. add the bill # that you want to track to the list you
established in #4

6. you may want to set up alerts or RSS feeds from the my TLO so
you are notified of progress on the bills you are tracking.

7. Please share the #s of the bills you find with the list and any
other info so we can all be more aware.

Hope this helps--I do not find any current legislation but we are a
couple of weeks early yet. we are not introducing any but someone else
could.
