In case you know a local organization that has a preservation project -
these aren't big grants but they might be useful to small institutions!

Subject: [Heritage-tourism-list-l] Preservation Assistance Grants

Heritage Tourism Friends-

Is there a small organization in your community that could use help with
a preservation project? The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)
is currently accepting applications for Preservation Assistance Grants
for Smaller Institutions.

Eligible institutions include:

*         Libraries

*         Museums

*         Archives

*         Historical Societies

*         Arts and Cultural Organizations

* City and County Records Offices

The grant program funds a wide range of preservation projects,
including:

* General preservation assessments of humanities collections

* Consultations with professionals to address a specific
preservation issue, need, or problem

* Purchase of storage furniture and preservation supplies

* Purchase of environmental monitoring equipment for humanities
collections

* Education and training for staff

The 2009 guidelines for Preservation Assistance Grants for Smaller
Institutions are available at
http://www.neh.gov/grants/guidelines/pag.html. You will also find sample
project descriptions, sample narratives, and a list of frequently asked
questions. The deadline for applications is May 14, 2009. All
applications to the NEH must be submitted through Grants.gov. See the
application guidelines for details. For more information, contact the
staff of NEH's Division of Preservation and Access at 202-606-8570 and
[email protected].

I encourage you to share this information with the eligible institutions
in your community. Let's bring some of this funding to our small
organizations in Texas!
