It was great seeing many of you at the Texas Library Association's
Annual Conference in Houston last week! The programs were interesting,
the exhibits were fantastic, and the networking was excellent.

This is a partial list of the awards given at the Wednesday morning
General Session:

Wayne Williams Project of the Year: Houston Public Library's City
employee Children's Zone: taking care of and entertaining the children
of city employees in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. They watched over
500 children for 2 weeks while the city got back to normal.

Librarian of the Year: Kerry McGeath, Southlake Public Library

Distinguished Service Award: Dr. Dana Rooks, University of Houston
Libraries

Lifetime Achievement Award: Dr Barbara Immroth, University of Texas
School of Information

Make your plans to attend next year, when the conference will be in San
Antonio. A lot of learning takes place in a few days.
