Gale/Library Media Connection TEAMS Awards recognize teacher and
librarian collaborations
Eligibility: All public and private schools in the United States and
Canada.
Deadline: June 15, 2009.
Funds: $2,500; $500 worth of Gale products; one-year subscription to
Library Media Connection; choice of professional publications from
Linworth                Books (worth $800).

There's still time to submit nominations for the Gale/Library Media
Connection TEAMS Awards. These awards are designed to recognize and
encourage critical collaborations between teachers and media specialists
that promote learning, help increase student achievement, and develop
the skills students need today. Three winners will each receive a $2,500
cash award; approximately $500 worth of Gale products; a one-year
subscription to Library Media Connection; the choice of professional
publications from Linworth Books worth approximately $800. The
nomination form is downloadable from the website. The nomination must be
submitted by a library media specialist, teacher, principal, student, or
parent. The deadline for nominations is June 15, 2009.
Examples of the types of collaboration that will be considered:
*       Using large-print books to improve student reading scores 
*       Increasing literacy among struggling readers 
*       Improving information literacy: open Web vs. subscription
resources 
*       Using nonfiction materials in classroom libraries to support
reading 
*       Integrating electronic and print reference resources into
classroom learning
