We take credit and debit cards at the circulation desk as well as at the
RFID self check stations. You have to first establish an account with a
merchant bank. I believe there is a fee involved. Our Finance
Department handled that for us. Our self check stations are set up to
settle the payments automatically. The merchant bank charges a % of the
payments for processing fee. I will have to check with our Finance
Department to find out what the percentage is. To us it is worth it as
not too many people carry cash or checks any more. Taking credit/debit
cards can increase the chance of patrons paying their fines and fees.

Subject: [ctls-l] accepting credit cards

We have had several requests to start accepting credit cards. Right now
we only accept cash or checks.

Does anyone else accept credit cards? Debit cards? Is the monthly cost
worth any extra funds we might get by accepting them?

Thanks for your input,
