Your library is the natural place for parents to learn how to help their
children succeed.
Early literacy programs teach parents how to combine reading, singing, talking
and play into learning experiences for young children.  These programs don't
require much money but they do take staff who are committed to helping
families read together. Come to Early Literacy Storytimes, where you will learn:

The early literacy skills preschoolers need to know before they learn to read
and write

How to weave practical early literacy ideas into your programs
How to plan and promote programs that both entertain and teach

In addition, each library will receive a book on how to use early literacy
skills in storytime:  Early Literacy Storytimes @ your library by Saroj Ghoting
(or)  Building Blocks:  Building a Parent-Child Literacy Program
at Your Library by Sharon Snow.Denise Trabucco, nationally-recognized early
literacy trainer, will teach the class.  Doors open 30 minutes before the
event.  Lunch is on your own.  This class will repeat August 7, 2009 in College
Station and August 19,
2009 in Leander.  Participants will earn 5 hours continuing professional
education credits.See you in Hillsboro!

Ready to Read grant participants - year one and year two - may attend for free
