The Texas Heritage Digitization Initiative announces the third course in
its series of Train to Share project workshops, "Metadata Standards and
Crosswalks," available through Amigos Library Services at
www.amigos.org. 

 

"Metadata Standards and Crosswalks" will explore the following points: 

 

*     Content standards: AACR2, DACS and CCO, with some information on
RDA 

*     Common metadata schemas: IPTC, Dublin Core, and MARC-XML 

*     Metadata crosswalks and transformations 

*     Application profiles for Dublin Core and other metadata standards 

*     Other types of metadata, including technical, preservation and
rights metadata 

 

Locations include:

 

*     El Paso     Jan 7-8

*     Austin      Jan 11-12

*     Lubbock     Feb 9-10

*     San Antonio Feb 18-19

*     Houston     Feb 22-23

*     Dallas      Feb 25-26

 

The course is designed as a two-day workshop, consisting of 12 hours of
instruction.
