We have a year-round children's program, Little Bookworms: weekly, mostly
preschool aged children (a few older home-schooled children) and their parents.
We usually get at least 10 kids/week, sometimes as many as 25, but typically
12-15. We continue throughout the summer, even when we have our Summer Reading
Club. We lose some of the school-year regulars, but pick up a lot of the summer
additions.
Our Little Bookworms involves music, stories, and crafts - sometimes we take
"field trips" a few blocks away to a bank or the pumpkin patch. We also
celebrate some of the holidays with parties for the participants.

Suzan Nyfeler, with CTLS and Every Child Ready to Read, as well as Christine
McNew, with TSLAC, both have some great training and resource materials if you
want to modify your children's programming.

Hope this helps!

Subject: [ctls-l] year round reading programs

I would like to know how many libraries have year round children’s reading
program.  I would appreciate if you can tell me what kind of participation you
have and any other details related to the program.

Thanks
