The Texas State Library's Small Library Management Training Program is
an excellent series of classes in which new librarians will learn plenty
about their new profession. I recommend it highly to new directors and
assistant directors.

Please see the message from John Cecil below and sign up ASAP! You will
meet neighboring librarians and get help from both the presenter and the
attendees.

Tocker Foundation funding is available for travel expenses AND for
substitute help in keeping your library open while you attend training.

We are pleased that one of the locations is in Waco.

Subject: [slm] New Small Library Management Series: Reference

Small Library Management IV: Reference is coming up this spring.

All forms of reference work common to a public library will be explored
in this workshop. Topics will include the core reference collection,
virtual reference, print v. online media, search engines, TexShare
databases, government resources, non-traditional sources, and the
reference interview. The presenter will be Arta Kabashi, from AMIGOS.

A great deal of this workshop will involve online resources for public
libraries. Thanks to all involved who helped us find computer labs for
this workshop series!
