Subject: [pld] TALL Texans deadline extended to January 22

Please excuse the cross-posting -

The deadline for TALL Texans applications has been extended to January
22, 2010! Info and online application forms are available on the TLA web
site at http://www.txla.org/groups/talltex/tallldi.html
<http://www.txla.org/groups/talltex/tallldi.html> .

The TALL Texans Leadership Development Institute offers advanced study
on topics such as strategic and tactical planning, communication,
collaboration, teambuilding, conflict resolution, power, and advocacy
for mid-career librarians with at least five years of experience working
in a library (MLS is not required; library advocates from the community
may also apply after 3 years' experience working with libraries).

The instructors will be Maureen Sullivan of the Harvard Institute and
Jack Siggins of George Washington University. They will be joined by six
mentors drawn from top leaders in the Texas library community, including
Joyce Baumbach, director of Plano Public Library, and the TLA President
Elect for 2010-11 (a public librarian to be elected in March 2010).

Jump-start your career with this transformational experience! Financial
aid may be found at the round table, district, and division levels to
help with transportation and registration costs.

Please feel free to contact institute coordinator Ted Wanner if you have
questions: [email protected] or 800-580-2852.
