This is a good opportunity to help in grant review.

Subject: [texshare-users] Call for Nominations to Grant Review Panel
forTexas State Library and Archives Commission Competitive Grants

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission is recruiting librarians
to serve as peer review panelists for Library Services and Technology
Act (LSTA) competitive grant applications.

We will invite one member from a four-year academic library to score
proposals this spring for the FY11 grant cycle, and an additional five
librarians from public and academic libraries (anticipated: 1 2-year, 2
4-year, 2 public) to fill terms that expire in August 2010. Terms of
service are for 3 years.

(We anticipate inviting another 7 librarians from 4-year, 2-year, and
public libraries to fill slots that will expire in August 2011.)

The grant review panel's function is to review, score, and make
recommendations to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission on
the LSTA grants that are administered by the Library Development
Division.

Reviewers will review proposals for Special Projects and Cooperation
Grants.

* Special Projects Grants provide funds for programs that expand
library services to all members of a library's community, targeting
those with special needs, and including literacy and/or information
literacy projects.

* Cooperation Grants provide funds for programs that promote
cooperative services for learning and access to information.

For additional information on the grant programs, see
<http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/funding/index.html#lsta>

Reviewers will read and score approximately 20-25 grant proposals
according to established criteria.

Reviewers will be invited to one grant review panel meeting in Austin in
late May or early June each year. Potential reviewers must have the
support of their institution for travel, as, regrettably, travel costs
are not compensated.

Potential reviewers should have experience or interest in grant writing
or review, desire to encourage innovative programs to enhance library
services to Texans and advance best practices in the field, and the
ability to devote the necessary time to complete the review process.
Experience with outcome-based evaluation is helpful. We will look for
diversity in geography and size of library.

To nominate an individual or to nominate yourself as a potential
reviewer, please send the following to Jennifer Peters, LSTA/Texas Reads
Grants Administrator, by March 5, 2010: 1) Nominee's name, library,
position, and full contact information; 2) A brief statement of the
nominee's qualifications.

For further information, please contact Jennifer Peters via email at
mailto:[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> or by
phone at 512-463-5527.
