See note below from Westbank's HR Officer, Marci Meyers.  I mistakenly
told you all at the last District meeting that it was required by state
law that all job openings be posted at the Texas Workforce Commission.
It took a lot of effort, but Marci has finally conclusively been told
that the original information she received was just flat incorrect.  

 

Have any of you located any legal requirements for posting job openings?

Beth:

 

After much ado, I was finally able to get a definite answer regarding
whether or not the Library is required to post job openings with the
Texas Workforce Commission.  I spoke  with Louis Attwood, the Program
Specialist / Workforce Customer Support Representative who was able to
shed light on the previous confusion.  If the Library were a Contract
Government Entity (and as such a private company) we would be required
to post all open positions with TWC.  However, the Library as simply a
Government entity with less than 20 full time employees, we are not
required to post any openings with them.
