For those of you not born in Texas, San Jacinto Day is the day the Texas
War for Independence ended with the capture of General Santa Anna at the
Battle of San Jacinto, on the swamp lands near La Porte, Texas. The
battle itself supposedly only lasted 18 minutes. Texian losses were
light; Mexican losses were heavier.
