Weeding Workshop in Schulenburg in May

Haven't done your spring cleaning? Do your stats show that your library
needs weeding? Come to the Weeding workshop using the update version of
the CREW Manual on Tuesday, May 25 at the new Schulenburg Public
Library! Registration is at 9:30 and the workshop starts at 10. We'll
talk about putting weeding in your collection development policy, how to
weed, and evaluating books that are candidates for weeding. 2 hours of
CE credit.

Online Genealogy

With 2 television shows this spring on genealogy, it is suddenly as hot
a topic as it was when Alex Haley wrote Roots many years ago! The Austin
Public Library is the site of this Online Genealogy workshop on Tuesday,
June 8 in the second floor computer lab in the downtown Faulk Central
Library. Park across Guadalupe in the Chase Bank garage & join us at 10
a.m. We'll look at Heritage Quest, the census (and more!) database that
the Texas State Library provides; the Texas Digital Sanborn Maps; and
some interesting archival sites provided by the state library, all of
which are free and can be remotely accessed by you and your patrons. 2
hours of CE credit.

Sign up on the CTLS website at www.ctls.net <http://www.ctls.net/> .
Seating is limited for both workshops.

See you there!
