No one, including myself and the other environmental activists involved in the No-Spray Coalition lawsuit filed on 7/20/2000 would question this fact. What we do question-in light of a growing amount of evidence that supports our claims-is whether the Mayor is acting reasonably, rationally or in the public interest. Does indiscriminate spraying of toxic pesticides expected to damage the health of thousands of people, kill off entire species of plants, animals, fish and beneficial insects and pollute the waterways around NYC make rational sense as a response to a virus the CDC and the NYC Department of Health admit is rarely fatal, extremely hard to become infected by and-so far this year-has not infected a single human being? We all make decisions about our health. We chose to smoke, eat, ingest or apply pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and foods that are known to cause cancer, heart disease and other ailments. Some of us take great efforts to avoid these substances while others choose not to bother. The difference is, we make the choice, not the Mayor. Diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year, Mayor Giuliani has taken months to decide on his own treatment. Despite carefully weighing all health factors and researching the quality of life effects of various cancer treatments, an understandably cautious Giuliani has still not decided on which course of treatment to take. Yet last year, days after being told that a mosquito-born virus had been found in NYC, the Mayor ordered an unprecedented mass aerial spraying of organophosphate nerve gas on eight million New Yorkers. This year-after finding just two allegedly infected birds-he ordered another mass spraying of two different but equally poisonous chemicals. Everything exists in a context. Here in NYC the six-and-a-half year context is that Rudolf Giuliani has made a reputation by taking the most extreme measures possible to address social issues. His record of losing Federal lawsuits and abusing the downtrodden is unmatched. Whether he is actively violating the U.S. Constitution, public opinion or countless local, State and Federal statutes, this Mayor has proven a willingness-even an enthusiasm-for taking the most extreme measures. In other words, there are legitimate reasons to question anything Mayor Giuliani says or does. There are also plenty of reasons to question the motivations of the pesticide companies, the Federal and State agencies and the so-called experts that are advising Giuliani behind the scenes. The Federal government, its oversight agencies like the CDC and EPA and the corporate interests that manufacture these toxic chemicals and spend millions of dollars each year to lobby Congress in order to promote their use have a long and detailed record which-once known leads one to seriously question their motivations, if not their sanity. During the past year I've written many articles documenting the findings of my own and other authors in connection to this issue. NYC Department of Health, CDC and EPA websites as well as thousands of sites compiled by antispray activists provide all the proof anyone could ever need to raise serious doubts about what is being done in NYC. Here, in an extremely abbreviated format, I will list just a few of these findings. For detailed documentation, see the archived articles and the websites themselves. 1. The Mayor and his advisors claim West Nile Virus never existed in North America before 1999. In reality, the CDC, the U.S. Army, various research institutions (Rockefeller University, Plum Island bio-warfare/animal disease laboratory and Sloan Kettering hospital) have been conducting research on West Nile Virus for decades; have created genetically-engineered variations of it; have patented and licensed it to corporations; have injected it into human and animal test subjects and have even sold it to Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. 2. The Federal government held Congressional hearings in 1994 [see: http://www.cco.net/~trufax/trans/roc1.html] in which it admitted using hundreds of thousands of American citizens as unknowing test subjects in biological, chemical, psychological and medical experiments. It also admitted that these experiments, a number of which centered on NYC, will continue. 3. If one examines a map and timeline showing the origin and progressive course of the West Nile Virus [see http://nationalatlas.gov/virusmap.html note: Plum Island is not labeled on this map], its epicenter clearly radiates out from the Plum Island Animal disease/bio-warfare lab located off the tip of Long Island NY. This lab specializes in bird diseases, routinely infects test animals with exotic viruses and has a documented history of dumping dead animal carcasses into the nearby waterways and surrounding land areas. NY Newsday, the NY Times and researchers who live near the lab have written hundreds of articles on its top secret work. Associates of this same lab-including Bronx Zoo pathologist Dr. Tracy McNamara who originally diagnosed the virus as W Nile-are involved in this pseudo-epidemic at the highest levels. 4. The Mayor and other officials have publicly stated that there is no vaccine for West Nile Virus. Yet, Thomas Monath the VP of OraVax, a vaccine manufacturer that has the sole licensing agreement with the U.S. Army for its genetically-altered Japanese Encephalitis vaccine (WNV is a Japanese Encephalitis variation), has been advising Giuliani and the CDC since the first day of the so-called epidemic. The future economic success of OraVax and the hundreds of millions invested by its stockholders depends on a vast public need for these vaccines. Last year on its website OraVax announced that the vaccine would be ready for field testing at the end of 1999. Just a coincidence? [From: Newsday 9/25/99-Deadly Discovery Virologist Thomas Monath, one of the country's leading authorities on mosquito-carried viruses, called the discovery ``a bombshell,'' and added: `` This is the biggest arbovirus story of the last 50 years. Wow!'' Monath, who works for OraVax, a biotechnology company in Boston, said he has been working closely with CDC investigators in New York since the encephalitis outbreak began in late August. Craig Venter, president of The Institute for Genomic Research (the co-publisher/co-researchers of the Human Genome Project) have been pressuring President Clinton to spend billions on a nationwide vaccine program against germ warfare.] 5. Experts on epidemics, insecticide application and the environment generally agree that the one sure effect of mass spraying will be new generations of mosquitoes immune to the insecticides being used. Have you ever sprayed your house for roaches? Initially, most die and you have a few days or weeks that are relatively roach free. Then the survivors breed. Soon you have a new roach population immune to the insecticide. Now you have to use more toxic insecticides in larger doses to get the same effect. Eventually, nothing works. It is also a scientific fact that mosquitoes become increasingly aggressive and bite more people after being exposed to insecticides. In technologically advanced nations insecticides are being phased out due to their health effects and increasing ineffectiveness against insects. Simultaneously, the same corporate interests that promoted the insecticides are bio-engineering the world food supply to genetically include its own insecticides, experimental genes and new vaccines. 6. Another scientific fact is that insects, fish, mammals and birds depend on their immune systems to fight disease. The single best-documented health effect of pesticide exposure is a weakened immune system. 7. If thousands of people were dropping dead around us from WNV everyone might support a program of massive spraying. However, there is no indication whatsoever that this is the actual or potential situation. The authorities cannot point to a single infected human this year. A few dead birds, which may have been planted or could have escaped from the Plum Island lab, are the only evidence the virus exists in NY. In this country millions of people are unnecessarily operated on, incorrectly prescribed dangerous medications and subjected to harmful treatments each year. The American Medical Association and the U.S. government freely admit this fact at the same time they want to limit if not eliminate our right to sue for damages. Do you see a pattern here? I do not claim to have the definitive explanation for what is behind this seemingly fake epidemic, but I will briefly present- and in later articles detail-some possible explanations for what is going on. Here is one very likely explanation. Corporate and governmental interests are trying to convince the American public that we are in imminent danger of chemical or biological attack from terrorists or hostile nations. These same interests also just happen to have hundreds of vaccines in various stages of research, development and manufacture. They have one major obstacle to instituting their new nation-wide vaccine program. Millions of Americans are suspicious of vaccines of any kind. In the wake of Gulf War Syndrome even the military has found itself confronted by growing resistance to being vaccinated. This epidemic may ultimately be about creating a need in the marketplace for a particular type of product-vaccines. Based on this scenario their strategy is to create-despite announcements that no one should panic-a growing sense of panic in the public. In a sense, even anti-spray activists like myself are indirectly helping this process. Once fear of both mosquitoes and insecticides is fully established, the public will be sufficiently prepared to accept a massive new vaccination program. Sounds like science fiction, you say? According to a fascinating article in the Village Voice V Voice 7/14/2000 INJECTING BIG BROTHER, vaccines are not only being created to fight disease but to psychologically and physiologically condition people to be unable to get high from drugs like cocaine and heroin. Lobbying is underway to make these vaccines part of the mandatory childhood vaccinations every American must submit to. As spin-offs of the Human Genome Project start coming down the chem-bio industry pipeline, expect to see hundreds of new vaccines to treat everything from hair loss to low self-esteem. A statement by the Mayor immediately after the No-Spray coalition lawsuit was filed hints at the agenda of using fear of pesticides to open the way for a vastly expanded use of vaccines. On 7/20/2000 Giuliani said, "I think their lawsuit is highly irresponsible because it creates all kind of misleading impressions on the part of people. And in fact, maybe over a long period of time the kind of furor that they've created around the whole idea of insecticides has helped to contribute to the outbreak of things like this...". Keep in mind, this statement is from a man who routinely quotes Machiavelli. We may now be right where they want us-deciding between the certainty of health damage from insecticides and the possible risks of being given untested experimental vaccines. I do not doubt that some elected and appointed officials involved and many of the media people covering the story sincerely believe they are helping protect the public. Sometimes, even the President has been kept in the dark about the agenda and actions of U.S. government agencies. Therefore, it is not difficult to envision a cloak of secrecy surrounding the real agenda at hand in this issue. Clearly, if any of the possible explanations I have advanced are true, the need for those in control to employ secrecy and disinformation is obvious. One thing however is certain. We the people have a legal, constitutional and moral right to be accurately and fully informed about what is really going on. The government cannot legally use us as experimental lab subjects without our knowledge or alter our genes without our consent. Neither can they legally decide to kill off countless species of animals and plants, destroy the environment or downsize segments of the human population that they consider, "useless eaters" or, "undesirables". Adolf Hitler tried exactly that just a few decades ago. Direct connections exist between Hitler and some of the very same suspects involved in this issue. The Human Genome Project is literally a direct continuation of the Eugenics programs started in the U.S. and in Nazi Germany earlier in this century. The corporate interests whose names keep surfacing in connection with this issue often turn out to be the exact same interests that financed Hitler and advocated (and still advocate) eliminating a major portion of the human population. Predecessors of the insecticides being used were originally developed by the Nazis for purposes of warfare-and in some cases for the purpose of exterminating people. It is also a well-known historic fact that the CIA brought thousands of top Nazi SS officials and scientists to the U.S. after the war, placed them in the military, in government, in think tanks, in top research universities and in the media where they have played a seldom recognized but very significant role in molding American culture, scientific research and both foreign and domestic policy. Among the many think tanks they have exerted an influence on is the Manhattan Institute, where Giuliani admits to having obtained virtually all of his policy ideas and whose top theorists now surround presidential candidate GW Bush and will likely become key members of his cabinet [See NY Times June 12, 2000 Bush Culls Campaign Theme From Conservative Thinkers “Gov. Are those opposing the spraying hysterical environmental nuts more worried about fish and birds than humans, as the Mayor recently commented?
